Positive Behaviour Support Plans — built around the person.

An EVSS Positive Behaviour Support Plan is more than a document — it's a shared playbook every person around the participant can read and use. We write two: an Interim plan to get started quickly, and a Comprehensive plan once the Functional Behaviour Assessment is complete.

What it is

Positive Behaviour Support Plans — explained.

A Positive Behaviour Support Plan (PBSP) is a person-centred, evidence-based plan that outlines proactive strategies, skill-building goals, and responses to behaviours of concern — all aimed at improving the participant's quality of life while safely reducing any restrictive practices.

EVSS plans are designed to be actually used. We write them in plain language so parents, carers, teachers, support workers and the participant themselves can pick them up and apply them consistently.

Our Interim Behaviour Support Plan gets practical strategies into the support team's hands within weeks of referral. The Comprehensive PBSP follows once the FBA is complete, with deeper proactive strategies and clear restrictive-practice reduction targets.

What's included

Every positive behaviour support plans at EVSS includes:

01 — Step

Plain-language strategies

Written so every person in the support network can read, understand and apply them — no jargon.

02 — Step

Proactive supports

Environmental, antecedent and skill-building strategies that prevent behaviours of concern before they start.

03 — Step

Replacement skills

Targeted skills the participant is taught instead of the behaviour of concern — communication, regulation, choice-making.

04 — Step

Crisis & response strategies

Clear, ethical responses for moments of distress, written for the specific people delivering support.

05 — Step

Restrictive practice reduction targets

Measurable plans to safely reduce any current restrictive practices, with timelines and accountability.

06 — Step

Built-in review cycles

Scheduled plan reviews so the PBSP keeps pace with the participant's growth.

Who it's for

Positive Behaviour Support Plans is right for:

  • NDIS participants with a Functional Behaviour Assessment recommendation
  • Participants currently subject to restrictive practices
  • Families needing a clear, consistent plan everyone can follow
  • Support Coordinators seeking a plan that meets NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission requirements
  • Schools and SIL providers asking 'what do we do day-to-day?'
How it works

From referral to outcome.

  1. Interim plan first. Practical strategies in place within weeks of intake so the team isn't waiting.
  2. FBA findings inform the plan. The function identified in the FBA drives the proactive strategies.
  3. Co-design with the network. Family, carers and support staff help shape what's realistic and what isn't.
  4. Comprehensive PBSP delivered. Written in plain language and signed off by stakeholders.
  5. Training rollout. Hands-on training so everyone can apply the plan the same way.
  6. Scheduled reviews. We review and refine alongside the team as the participant grows.
